This week, we are going to discuss companies' policies for promotion. Companies tend to value different things and set different criteria for determining who deserves a promotion. Criteria for promotion may include employees' performance and achievements in their current roles, seniority within the company, years of experience in the field, or even leadership potential. in today's post, l would like you to discuss which criteria for promotion you see as the most important and explain why.

I believe that when considering promotions, managers should reward employees' seniority, or how many years they have stayed with the company. By promoting the employees who have been with the company longer than others, managers show that they value employee loyalty. This might discourage people from jumping from job to job.

I disagree with Andrew because even if employees have many years of work experience or company loyalty, it does not mean they have better skills. In my opinion, it is more important to look at employees' job performance. lf employees are excelling in their current roles, this better indicates their readiness for the next step in their careers.

  • From my perspective, leadership potential should be the most important criterion for determining promotions. To be more specific, promoting employees who demonstrate strong leadership skills ensures that the company has effective and inspiring individuals in positions of influence. Leadership potential includes the ability to guide teams, make sound decisions, and adapt to challenges—qualities that are essential for long-term success. For example, my cousin Ethan, who works for a tech company, was recently promoted to a management role. Ethan had consistently shown his leadership abilities by organizing team projects, helping coworkers solve problems, and staying calm during high-pressure situations. During one project, the team faced delays due to technical issues, but Ethan quickly adjusted the schedule, reassigned tasks, and motivated the team to stay focused. His strong decision-making skills and ability to guide the team helped them meet the deadline successfully. Ethan's promotion not only recognized his leadership potential but also inspired his coworkers to improve their teamwork and performance. To conclude, prioritizing leadership potential in promotions helps organizations cultivate a team of capable and forward-thinking individuals who can drive growth and inspire others.
