Should universities require student permission for parents to access their child's grades?

I agree with the policy that parents of university students cannot have access to their child's grades without their child's permission. 

Firstly, this policy respects the privacy and independence of the student. University is a time when students are transitioning into adulthood, and having control over their personal information is an important part of that process. They should have the autonomy to decide who has access to their grades. For instance, a student might want to share their success with their parents but also want to handle their failures independently. Secondly, this policy encourages students to take responsibility for their education. They are more likely to proactively communicate their academic progress and seek help when needed. This can lead to better study habits and a greater sense of accountability.
