It is very common to see students sleeping on the couches in the library. l do not think the university should allow this, for two reasons. First, when students sleep in the library, they occupy spaces where other students need to sit in order to get their work done. Second, when visitors come to our university and take a campus tour, the tour always takes them into the library. lf these visitors see students sleeping there, they will get the impression that students at our university are not serious about their studies.
Sincerely,
Diane Menz
W:Did you see Diane's letter in the newspaper?
M:Yeah, I though it is kind of silly. W:really? M:yeah I mean for one thing, have you ever gone to the library and not been able to find a place to sit down and study?
W:well, now that I think of it no. I you may not always be able to sit on one of those nice soft couches they have, but you can always find a place to sit and study at one of the tables.
M:Right. I know that the chairs at the tables aren't quite as comfortable as the couches, but they're okay. So there are always seats available if you want to study.
W:Ok, yeah That's true. But she might be right about the people on the campus tours.
M:I don't think so. like um Before I applied here, I came and took one of those tours. And when the tour Guide brought us into the library, we saw those students, but it didn't bother us.
W:No? M:No, In fact after we left the library, everyone on the tour was talking about how dedicated students were, that even when they were extremely tired, they didn't just quit studying and like go back to their room and watch TV. Everyone understood that they were just taking a short break to renew their energies, so they could continue studying

基础版本(100词)
The proposal suggests that the university should ban students from sleeping in the library for two reasons: it takes up study space and gives visitors a negative impression of the university. The man disagrees with the proposal. First, he argues that there are always enough seats available for studying, even if the comfortable couches are occupied. Second, he believes that visitors on campus tours do not view sleeping students negatively. In fact, he recalls that during his own campus tour, visitors saw sleeping students as a sign of dedication, as they were taking short breaks to recharge and continue studying.
高阶版本(150词)
The letter proposes a ban on sleeping in the library, citing concerns about limited study space and the potential negative impression on campus tour visitors. The man, however, strongly opposes this idea. He refutes the first point by noting that while the comfortable couches may be occupied by sleeping students, there are always alternative seating options available at tables, ensuring that study space is not truly limited. Regarding the second point, he challenges the assumption that sleeping students create a poor image. Drawing from his personal experience as a prospective student on a campus tour, he explains that visitors interpreted sleeping students as a sign of hard work and dedication, recognizing that they were merely taking brief breaks to recharge before continuing their studies. Thus, he concludes that the proposal is unnecessary and based on flawed reasoning.
