Should parents encourage their kids to become popular and well-liked in school?

Actually, I'd have to disagree with the statement that parents should encourage their kids to become popular and well liked in school. 

Firstly, popularity can be fleeting and often based on superficial factors, which may not reflect a child's true character or values. Encouraging kids to focus on being well liked can lead them to conform to societal pressures rather than develop a strong sense of self. 

Secondly, the pursuit of popularity can lead to behaviors such as bullying or excluding others, as children may feel the need to maintain their social status. It's more beneficial for parents to encourage their kids to be kind, respectful, which will likely lead to more meaningful and lasting relationships.
