Should universities require students to participate in community activities?

I disagree with the statement that universities should require students to participate in community activities. 

Firstly, requiring community participation can infringe on students' autonomy and freedom of choice. Students have diverse interests and commitments, and mandating certain activities may interfere with their personal passions and academic pursuits. For instance, some students may be passionate about volunteering, while others may prefer to contribute to society through academic research or artistic endeavors. 

Secondly, community activities should be driven by personal motivation and interest, not mandates. When students choose to participate in activities they are passionate about, they are more likely to be engaged and make a meaningful impact. Forcing participation can lead to disinterested efforts and minimal benefit to both the student and the community.
