Library Adds Charging Stations
Students will be happy to see the latest upgrade to the university library: over winter break, several charging stations were installed. These stations are equipped with multiple electrical outlets and cables to power electronic devices. The stations are scattered throughout the building and are surrounded by seating to allow students to sit nearby while charging computers, phones, and tablets. The upgrade comes in response to student complaints that it was hard to get work done at the library because there were not enough outlets. Since the stations and seating areas take up a lot of space, the library has removed some shelves and books and is making the books available in electronic form instead.

Oh, cool. I'm glad they did this. Yeah, it's about time, right?
Man: Yeah, it's about time, right?
Woman: Yeah, I'm one of the people who complained. Actually, my computer is kind of old, and the battery doesn't last that long. And sometimes, when I've tried to work on an assignment there, well, I'll be busy working, and then my computer starts to die. But everything's taken.
Man: I've had that happen too, and then you have to just wait, because everything's taken.
Woman: Exactly, and so, well, what I've ended up doing sometimes is I just leave and go somewhere else, like back to my dorm. Honestly, it's to the point where I don't even bother going there anymore when I have a big project because I know I'll have to stop halfway through. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Man: Well, clearly you are not the only one who complained. Glad they did something about it.
Woman: For sure, and I definitely don't mind what they're doing with the books. I actually think that'll be an improvement.
Man: How so?
Woman: Oh, because more students can use the book. When there's just one copy, only one person can use it at a time, but if it's online, then it's like open access or whatever. So any student who wants to can just log on and read it.
Man: Huh, I didn't think about that. You're right. That is better.
