From my perspective, I agree with this idea. Although the statement that life is easier and comfortable today than it was in the past as the environment is better and the competition in the society is less fierce, there are some flaws about this idea. The first flaw is that the environment might be worse than nowadays. With the development of social media, people can have better access to every part of the world by their eye. We can see news from the TVs or phones. In recent years, owe to increasing news about the environment, we are more and more aware that the world pollution has become more serious and we deeply understanding the effect brought by the pollution. With the social concern, not only governments but also people are engaged in protecting the environment. Due to these efforts, the environment become even better than before. The second flaw is that it is more competitive for surviving. In the period that my grandparents were young, they had just passed the period of war. All the things are waiting for being repaired, which means most of the resource will be used in postwar recovery instead of people's life. With limited resource, people have to compete with ours not for a better life, but for survival. The competition will be much more fierce and may even be far beyond imagination. On the contrary, our lives now is much more easier and more comfortable. It have been nearly 1 hundred years after the world war 2. Most of countries have recovered and developed drastically. Instead of improving the strength of nation, many countries turn their eyes on people's life. Thanks to the social security, there is no need for people to concern about the survival. Even though we may lose jobs and have no money, we can still rely on it. The development of technologies like internet has brough not only convenience but also happiness. We can communicate with people from different regions without face-to-face contact or writing letters. Travelling also become more easier. Even planes are available to some of the people. There are also some cheaper alternatives like trains, which enable most of people to travel conveniently. In conclusion, it is a easier and more comfortable world now.
