Well, I could use some help.I\'m working on some ways to get the university and the surrounding community,well, to be a bit more connected involved, you know.But it isn\'t always easy to get in touch with the right people.Yeah, you\'re telling me. So what are your plans?I think a good place to start is the upcoming Environmental Conference.Right now it\'s only being advertised on campus,but I think we should expand thatactively work to get people in the surrounding community to attend.No. The Environmental Conference,I thought that was just a forum for students to present their current research in environmental studies,so community members might not be interested.Well, yes, they\'ll be discussing all sorts of environmental issues,but some of the student research projects I saw the list of what\'s being presented, and I think there are some things that community members might find interestingprojects related to the surrounding area, you know, like,there\'s a study on invasive fish species in Lake Porter just outside of town.Hmm, you might have something there,but well, where will it be held? I mean, would there be enough room if you invited the community at large?I hadn\'t thought of that.It\'ll be held in the student center, but we\'d need more space than that,and it\'s probably too late to move it to like the gymnasium. I agree. It\'s been promoted on campus for a while.They can change the location now.Well, it\'s still the beginning of the semester.There\'s time to organize a different campus community event that\'s separate from the Environmental Conference, we could call it an environmental fairthat sounds more like it, I mean, an event that really highlight information for community members.Hmm, yeah, we could focus just on local environmental concerns and what\'s being done to address them,like booths with information about where to recycle electronics, ways to reduce energy use.I\'ll talk to one of my friends.She\'s involved in a project with high school students from this area focusing on local environmental concerns.I\'m not sure what their project is, but it\'s probably something they could present.And don\'t forget,the fair would also provide an opportunity to showcase the university\'s commitment to environmental responsibility.You know, the universities recently made some changes to its buildings to address local concerns.For instance, we added a water recycling system to all of the buildings so we can stop wasting precious water from the community\'s watershed.And that\'s just one example.
