Listen to a conversation between a student and an employee at the food services' office.

S: This is the university food services' office, right?

E: Yes. You're here to sign up for a meal plan, I'm guessing?

S: No, actually already have one. I'm actually a member of the multicultural students club. We're organizing an event next month and we like to have catered food.

E: Oh, okay. You're in the right place, but our catering coordinator is on vacation this week. I usually only deal with student dining contracts.

S: Oh, no, I was really hoping to get all the catering details taken care of right away. We're kind of running out of time. It's scheduled for Friday, the 12th.

E: Well, all right. I'll try my best to help, at least until the catering coordinator gets back. So what kind of event is it exactly?

S: Oh, great! So, our club, the multicultural students club, it's about sharing different cultural, different cultures and foods, sharing them with students. We'd like to set up a buffet with all kinds of foods, like from a bunch of different countries.

E: To expose students to international cuisine?

S: Right, right! And it's going to be free for students. We're going to have more than food. There's going to be this folk music group from Ireland performing afterwards and a dance group from Brazil. We were awarded a grant by the student activities' committee, so we're doing as much as we can.

E: That sounds like fun! How many people are you expecting?

S: Probably 40 or 50? We're hosting it in the student union ballroom.

E: Yeah, that's plenty big enough. You know, last year, the student art club spent a lot of time and money planning a grand opening celebration for the renovated campus art gallery. But they didn't realize there was already a popular sports event scheduled at the same time. So almost no one came to the gallery's grand opening.

S: I know, I was there, it was awful.

E: So, you already knew to check the calendar. Anyway, I'll reserve the date for catering. You'll have to get a member of the faculty to sign this authorization form. First, a club advisor or a professor who can endorse you, it's university policy. I'll ask the catering coordinator to email you next week about the food you want to order and the price.
