段落1
NARRATOR
Listen to a conversation between two students.
段落2
MALE STUDENT
How's it going, Julie?
段落3
FEMALE STUDENT
Not too good. You know the student art exhibit next week.
段落4
MALE STUDENT
No... what's that?
段落5
FEMALE STUDENT
It's where a few art students are chosen to show a piece of artwork in the student center, for people to see.
段落6
MALE STUDENT
Oh, cool. You were chosen?
段落7
FEMALE STUDENT
Yeah, except I just found out that I can't use the painting I did for it .
段落8
MALE STUDENT
Why not?
段落9
FEMALE STUDENT
Because it's too big. I'm into working on a really large scale now...
and the painting I did for the show is huge... it's like a three-meter-wide canvas.
But each artist only gets a small amount of wall space.
段落10
MALE STUDENT
The organizers can't make an exception?
段落11
FEMALE STUDENT
No... they said it wouldn't be fair to the other students if they let me have more space.
段落12
MALE STUDENT
That's too bad.
What're you gonna do?
段落13
FEMALE STUDENT
I don't know... I could give them an older painting. I do have one that's small enough.
段落14
MALE STUDENT
Great.
段落15
FEMALE STUDENT
Yeah... it's a nice painting and all...it's just that I did it a while ago.
My technique has improved a lot since then, so it wouldn't be my best work or anything.
I don't think it's as good as what I'm doing now.
段落16
MALE STUDENT
Well, could you maybe do a new painting, a smaller on... by next week, for the show?
段落17
FEMALE STUDENT
Yeah, I could.
Then it'd be something fresh, something I'd be more proud of...
But I'm really busy right now... I've got some exams coming up that I really need to study for...
