From my point of view, employers should make investment in employee training. While I can see Andrew's point that hiring the most skilled workers at the first time can help the company saving money, I agree with Kelly that offering ongoing training and skill deveplopment can make employees more likely to stay rather than go. If a employee recieve professional cultivation and sentimental encouragement from his or her supervisors, they can develop a sense of belonging and commnity to the company. Therefore, they may work even harder to produce more profits for the company. Apart from what Kelly has said, I'd like to add that sometimes the skills an employee equipped with at the first place may not be the most suitable one for the company. By establishing the company's unique training system, the employee can be more tailored to his or her current position, which hence elevates the productivity and makes work easier to handle for the employee.

Doctor Diaz

We’ve been discussing the importance of hiring and retaining highly skilled employees, but even the best employees may need to periodically update or further develop their work skills. One question facing managers is how much time and money to invest in improving the work skills of their employees. Some managers argue that ongoing employee training is the most important investment a company can make. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Andrew

I don’t think that employee training is the most important investment a company can make. The company should be hiring the most skilled workers it can find in the first place. There are so many other unavoidable things that a company needs to spend money on and that have to take precedence over training.

Kelly

Employees’ leaving their jobs is always a risk, but providing ongoing training and skill development is more likely to make employees want to stay rather than go, in my opinion. When employers pay for training, employees are likely to feel more valued by their employer, and this can only improve the employer-employee relationship.

  • From my perspective, I am convinced that continuous employee training represents a significant investment for businesses, a perspective that resonates with Lyndia's belief in its potential to enhance employee retention. I would also argue that regular training offers employees the chance to develop new skills, expand their knowledge base, and acquire specialized expertise. This leads to a workforce that is both flexible and skilled in handling various tasks and responsibilities.

Although Miles pointed out the importance of recruiting skilled workers as a priority over continuous employee training, he overlooked the fact that in the fast-changing business environment of today, industries and technologies are in a constant state of flux. Training initiatives enable employees to stay current and adaptable to these shifts. Simply hiring the most skilled workers at the outset does not ensure their skills will remain up-to-date or relevant over time. Continuous training guarantees that employees evolve alongside industry developments and make meaningful contributions to the company's ongoing success.

In summary, investing in ongoing training for employees is a crucial strategy for businesses.
